TECHNOLOGY

The proliferation of screens throughout our daily lives (television sets, computers, mobile phones, PDAs, video consoles, etc.) makes technology one of the main driving forces for the change of the audiovisual sector. The multiplication of audiovisual platforms compels sector companies to implement strategies with as many different platforms as possible. Today it is no longer feasible to design content for a single platform. This has led to the implementation of multi-platform distribution strategies that combine what is known as New Media and Media On Demand.

Technology enables the content distribution strategy to gradually expand and thus increase the viewer's opportunities to consume audiovisual content. It represents a change of conception, as consumption opportunities are adapted to the consumer's daily routine. Thus, a double effect is attained, as both loyalty and personalisation are generated.

This new milieu is generating a number of questions relating to the three-screen challenge, which the NEXT #1 conference aims to answer:

  • Which of the three screens will become the most important?
  • How can a multi-platform strategy be successfully implemented?
  • What variables will determine the use and consumption of each screen?
  • Can we speak of a standard model for multi-platform distribution?
