MARC MELILLAS

Marc Melillas

Born in Caracas (Venezuela) in 1963. Graduate in comunication studies. He has been the director general of the Local Audio-Visual Network since late 2007. From 2003 to 2007 he was content and services director at the network of local television stations. He was behind the setting up of the Catalan audio-visual market and ran it for 5 years (2000-2005). From 2000 to 2002 he coordinated the local television station circuit. His professional career has always been linked to community broadcasting media. He was the director of Canal 51 Televisió in Badalona and has worked with other local television organisations.

As director general of the XAL, Marc Melillas maps out the broad lines of the present and the near future for the organisation, taking into account the factors involved in a changing environment, including the final roll-out of DTT, new opportunities for distributing content and ongoing developments in the legislative framework. He is responsible for giving the organisation its attitude and vision. He also represents the XAL in local, national and international forums.
