Content

Among the basic lines of action of the XAL is the production and exchange of programmes and news or content in general usable in any format by the associated organisations and between them. Content is provided in several distinct blocks:

  1. News agency (XN). XN is the XAL's news agency, based on a distinctive model of mutual exchange of news between the associated organisations and the central editorial group. XN works according to the model of a news agency for local media, one which provides and receives news content for distribution, broadcast, modification and editing. News production is concentrated in digital video formats of use both to general and digital (internet, mobile phones, PDA's) news media, public institutions, private organisations and individuals.

  2. Freely broadcastable syndicated content: A comprehensive range of content, the result of joint editorial decisions, concentrating on information, entertainment, news and/or cultural programmes, which the associated organisations have available to them to broadcast in accordance with their programming interests. Freely broadcastable syndicated programmes include the following categories:
    Programmes exchanged or co-produced between media.
    Third-party productions with public or private outside funding.
    Exploitation of XAL's own content.

  3. Chain broadcast syndicated programmes: A range of news content and programmes, the result of joint editorial decisions, considered to be of public interest, where the associated organisations undertake to guarantee a first showing at the same time. These programmes include the following categories:
    Daily general and sports news conceived and made by the central editorial group together with contributed content from the associated organisations' media.
    Information and entertainment programmes. Range of information and entertainment content, for which the associated organisations guarantee a first broadcast at the same time.

  4. lamalla.cat: The digital daily lamalla.cat is an on-line service aiming to inform users about local affairs and bring local news to all of the citizens in every region. The XAL places this service at the disposal of its associated organisations for them to use its content in their interactive and/or electronic services. The aim of this service is to encourage experiments in the processes of decentralised news production, and in particular the area of media and audio-visual content.
